Y11 After School Revision Sessions

Dear Parents

We are entering a crucial time for pupils in Year 11 as they begin final preparation for their GCSE examinations.

Following the practice examinations in November pupils have been receiving feedback about their strengths and areas for improvement.  For some pupils improving the amount and quality of revision they undertake will be a key priority.

To support pupils with their revision a number of members of staff have volunteered to provide revision sessions either at lunch time or after school.  The programme for these sessions, most of which start in January, is shown below:

Please could you encourage your child to attend as many of the relevant revision sessions as possible.  Last year pupils who attended the extra revision sessions were extremely successful, achieving many excellent grades.

A range of revision materials and resources are available to pupils.  Every Year 11 pupil has access to GCSE Pod and many already use Seneca Learning and Kerboodle.  Revision guides, PowerPoints and past exam questions are available on Moodle in many subjects.

We will write to you nearer the time with details of the GCSE examination timetable and other arrangements but please note that the examination boards have added 24 June 2020 as a contingency date to the examination calendar.  Pupils should be available up to and including this date and care should be taken when making arrangements such as booking holidays.

In the meantime we hope to see as many parents as possible at the Year 11 Parents’ Consultation Evening on 9 January 2020.

Yours sincerely
